DISCIPLINE POLICY
I use The Assertive Discipline method in my classroom to encourage appropriate academic and social behaviors. In the beginning of the year, the class discusses appropriate classroom behavior and agrees to the classroom rules. The discipline plan helps develop self-control and independence. We practice and model correct behaviors in all situations. The class rules are always clearly posted and are reviewed often. A traffic light is used to help students visualize the concept. Class Rules
1. Respect others
2. Follow directions
3. Do your best work
Students receive three points for following the rules which are rewarded during the week. Students work towards earning prizes or free time.
If a child chooses to break our class rules I institute the following consequences:
1. First Time – A verbal warning
2. Second Time – Second warning move
student card to yellow
3. Third Time- Move student card to red light and the loss of the point.
If a student exibits any behavior considered harmful to himself or other students, the student will be sent to the principal immediately.
At times, some students may need individual behavior plans to incourage appropriate school behaviors.
