After reading several books from Laura Numeroff’s If You Give a Mouse a Cookie series, the students in Miss Reichel’s class decided to write their own cause and effect tale.  This version stars a monkey (of course!) who receives a pair of mittens. Get ready as the story comes to life with brightly colored illustrations and an upbeat soundtrack.

*Can you tell who we modeled the monkey in the story after?  If you know leave us a comment!*

Miss Reichel’s class has been learning about the continents throughout their study of world.  They have created a teaching book highlighting some of the new facts they learned.  Watch the video to hear and see all of the interesting facts they now know.

Enjoy!

On October 7, 2010, Miss Reichel’s class participated in Jumpstart to Read’s “Read for the Record” program.  On this day, millions of people read Ezra Jack Keats’ The Snowy Day in both classrooms and homes.  After reading the book, the students in Miss Reichel’s class wrote their own seasonal tale about an autumn friendship.  The illustrations featured tissue paper collages which were modeled after Keats’ signature style.  Enjoy the story and beautiful artwork!

After reading the book, A My Name is Alice by Jane Bayer, the students in Miss Reichel’s class wrote their own alphabet page for their names.  Watch their words and illustrations come to life as their voices narrate this very silly alphabet book.

Enjoy and don’t forget to leave a comment!

Miss Reichel’s class wrote this story as a pre-reading exercise before reading the book, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka.  Using the underlined words as a guide, they created their own version of the classic fairy tale.  The students then added illustrations and narration to bring their story to life.  Enjoy!

. Reichel’s  class took part in the “Where the Wild Things Went” project started by  Jenuinetech.com.    The students created a continuation of the story “Where the Wild Things Are”.  Click Here for details about the project.

The students created a 10 page story with narration and illustration for this project.
